Team Waterpolo are a Preston four piece of multiple musical comparisons but one unique sound have already made waves with âLetting Goâ, their debut single and a MySpace and NME Track Of The Week. The track was recorded in the South Of France at Black Box Studios which houses the mixing desk that once recorded much of Chicagoâs best known hardcore bands including Ministry and Shellac as well as being the desk where Survivorâs 80âs rock classic âEye Of The Tigerâ was, as they say, laid down!
Despite having recently signed a long term deal with Epic Records, âSo Called Summerâ sees the Team hook up with hip indie Yo Yo Acapulco. The band had already promised the track to Yo Yo and, being men of their word, decided to fulfil their obligation.
The track retains the musical magpie-ism that has seem comparisons with Beastie Boys, Weezer and The Beta Band amongst others but is essentially a rocking set of verses and an insanely catchy chorus that bemoans the lack of summer in the boyâs native North West.
Having spent the summer in a variety of UK fields from Glastonbury to Latitude, V to the Underage Festival and taken a slot on the NME New Noise Tour before the summerâs exertions, this is now a tour hardened band and more is set to come with their first full UK tour to coincide with the single release.
