From the moment New Young Pony Club released their debut single 'Ice Cream' in 2005 - with which they boldly introduced their unique blend of dark disco, pop punk and anthemic new wave - the band have constantly evolved their sound.
Through the Mercury Music Prize nominated debut album 'Fantastic Playroom' (2007) via the band’s follow up, 'The Optimist' (2010), NYPC has developed an almost a borderless, experimental beauty to their sound, which sits effortlessly alongside psychedelic balladry and clear cut bold pop monsters. They have taken their live show and this intrepid hybrid sound to all of the Earth’s continents.
New Young Pony Club in 2012 is no different to the adventurous band previously seen. And the first glimpse of the band’s current state of evolution comes in the form of new single 'You Used To Be A Man'; another assured step forward and upward, cast inside a minimal, sophisticated and soulful pop tune.
NYPC will release their as-yet-untitled third album in late 2012. 'You Used To Be A Man' is released on the band’s own label, The Numbers, on May 7th.
