My Federations album ‘Don’t Wanna Die’ on 7th April 2008 via Eye Industries.Describing themselves as ‘psychedelic electro rock with balls and bells’, Brighton-based My Federation return with the follow up single to their debut E.P Honey Bee which was released back in April 2007. My Federation are brimming with creative energy, which is the first thing that strikes you when you hear their current single ‘Don’t Wanna Die’. Due for release on 24th March 2008 it features lusty layers of vocal harmony, juicy analogue synths that are about fit to burst, pulsating guitars and a chorus which is so catchy you will be singing it long after the lights have gone out and the record has finished! The album of the same name is out on 7th April. My Federation are an art rock outfit like no other, their frontman Lee ‘Muddy’ Baker is a man of many talents who gave up his exploits in forging fine paintings and thieving cars to join the band. He also wrote and produced Tim Booth’s last album, produced both Chungking and Clearlake and also recently worked with the national beatbox champion Beardyman. If that’s not enough he is also working on the new James album whom My Federation will be touring with in Spring 2008. Lee still manages to put his artistic talents to good use but in a non illegal way, he is an enthused visual artist and designs the bands colourful, cutting edge imagery which is found plastered across the bands records and merchandise. From the same planet as The Flaming Lips, Supergrass and Super Furry Animals, My Federation are more than just a passing fad. With other eclectic influences such as Led Zeppelin, Daft Punk and Stevie Wonder, My Federation have a multi-coloured canvas on which to build, painting their sound to be uninhibited, zestful and infectious. My Federation are all about having fun and taking as many people along for the ride as possible. When asked what the future holds Lee replies “we’re happy to stop short of world domination” with a playful glint in his eye, in the meantime he’s happy just as long as “people leave our gigs sweaty and smiling”. Superb animator Kidda produced the ‘Don’t Wanna Die’ video, he is most notably known for producing Noel Fielding and Mid Field General’s creation “MidFielding”, as well as Lo Fi Allstars and X-press 2. He is also bringing out his own album on Skint next year which Lee mixed and sang on alongside Gary Lightbody (Snow Patrol), Blak Twang and Les from The Beatnuts. My Federation
