I Wish is a typically hook laden tale of misspent single life from the troubadours of lovelorn misadventure Brinkman. Their first single on EMIs His Masters Voice label, it is set for release on April 9th.The historic His Masters Voice label was last home to Morrisseys solo releases in the 90s and is being resurrected to house Brinkmans infectious brand of guitar pop. The endearingly self deprecating humour of front man Paul Cook and the catchy rhythm section stomps of drummer Neil Kerly and bassist Tom Brown, are perfectly condensed in I Wishs three minutes of indie-pop hookery.Standing at the modern day frontier of an established English songwriting movement, Brinkman draw on the similarly observant styling of The Kinks, The Las and Blur. Taking the everyday and the mundane, wrapping it up with intelligent lyrics and addictive guitars lines, and somehow making it shine with humour and intrigue.Following their debut single KIRSTEN DUNST (on Club Fandango) last November Brinkman have been playing dates around the country including a Sold Out NME Awards show at the Astoria supporting Regina Spektor and Love Is All.
