Return with single You Cant Have It All on April 16thAsh, now slimmed down to their original trio status following the departure of guitarist Charlotte Hatherley, return with news of a brand new single on April 16th. Entitled 'You Can't Have It All' it's their first recorded output since 2004. Ash have just completed their first UK shows since Glastonbury 2005 on their sold out 'Higher Education' tour - celebrating their return with a countrywide tour of universities, where they have been road testing several new tracks scheduled to be on their as-yet-untitled forthcoming album. 'You Can't Have It All' shows that the band have lost none of their oft-mentioned prowess for a great melody and explodes into action come the first chorus...As of late 2005, Tim and Mark relocated to New York and immediately began searching out a suitable recording space. Once found, the band embarked on fitting out the space and decided that, rather than using a producer, Tim would wield the stick with the assistance of an engineer and basically self produce the album with 'You Can't Have It All' the first fruit of the last year having started from scratch (literally). Other things come and go but as with all previous releases, 'You Can't Have It All', will be available on digital format, 7", CD and DVD (track listing tbc) through Infectious Records / Warners.
Historically, Ash have tended to unleash a poppier sounding album followed by a harder-edged collection of songs, this time around the band have thrown a curveball into the mix with what could easily be described as their 'most complete' album to date.
Their slimming down in band size has led to a rejuvenated trio returning with some of their best songs in their fourteen year long career - yeah, count em - and they have just hit thirty years of age!
Ash will be participating at various festivals throughout Europe over the coming months and have confirmed their appearance at this year's Isle Of Wight Festival on June 9th.Ash
