After releasing their self-titled EP way back in September 2008, the Australian psychedelic garage rock foursome TAME IMPALA are back and ready to unleash their debut LP INNERSPEAKER on August 23rd in the UK. The album is brought to you by Modular Records, the forward-thinking independent label, which is home to Ladyhawke, Cut Copy and many more.
By day, Tame Impala are Perth residents Kevin Parker, Dom Simper, Jay Watson and Nick Allbrook but after dark they morph into a psych-rocking force of nature. Their five-track home-recorded debut EP won them an instant fanbase that drooled over their harmony-laden fuzz rock gems and earned them comparisons to the legends (Cream and Blue Cheer) as well as the new breed (Dungen and Comets on Fire)
For their first full length album, the band relocated to an enormous treehouse mansion with 180 degree view of the Indian Ocean and focused on expanding their sound to nearly an hour of pure unadulterated psychedelic bliss.
Recorded and produced by the band’s own Kevin Parker, the band also roped in Death In Vegas’ Tim Holmes for engineering duties as well as the renowned sonic maverick Dave Fridmann (MGMT/Flaming Lips) to mix the album. The result is a confident 12-track record, created by a foursome barely out of their teens. It truly is a cosmic journey, which needs to be consumed and enjoyed in one strung-out sitting as intended
Currently on their debut US tour supporting MGMT; they will be playing Reading and Leeds Festivals this summer, with more UK dates are yet to be announced so watch this space for more information
