Guns, Babes and Lemonade is the handsomely titled debut album from Modular signing Muscles. Just released in Australia it raced straight into the Top 10 and the mayhem amongst the Aussie kids continues to grow 22 year old Muscles is the son of a crocodile farmer and was born in the small Australian outback town of White Cliffs. Whilst other kids were banging their heads to Sabbath and Deep Purple, Muscles embraced himself with 90s pop singles, bad trance compilations and Super Nintendo. His favourite game? Super Mario of course. Guns, Babes, Lemonade is something of an understated pop gem which could end up as the sound of the winter. With such acute charm, Muscles is as far from cool as you can get. More so, he doesn't try to be cool: he's gushingly over emotional but endearingly so tracks about love, girls, sweets and, er, party management. He's the one that always loses, the skinny uncool kid with notably good humour, and he's immensely likeable as a result. His overenthusiastic dance pop works so well, it sounds like everything great about good old fashioned, non-pretentious dance music. With rabid fans as diverse as Robyn and Soulwax (both of whom personally asked him to support them on tour), Muscles is ready to hit the UK in a big way in 2008.Muscles also DJ's under the name DJ Flex.
