After receiving excellent reviews for their two previous EPs, London four piece, Look, Stranger! are set to release their much-anticipated new single ‘Ithaca’ on 12th November 2012.
Look, Stranger! are a vision of the future from the past. School science videos and long-lost editions of ‘Tomorrow’s World’ provide the basis of the alternative 2012 inhabited by the band.
Their songs cleverly stride the futuristic, the retro and the deeply familiar and it’s a unique approach to making music, clearly audible on their critically acclaimed debut EP ‘If You’re Listening’ last year and their follow up EP ‘One For The King’ released earlier this year.
The beautiful ‘Ithaca’, produced by Tom McFall (Bloc Party, REM) is the bands most anticipated release to date.
Comparisons in the mainstream music press have ranged wildly from Wild Beasts through to Fleetwood Mac, which perhaps alludes to the band’s biggest strength; their individuality and inimitable ‘kookiness’.
Alongside great reviews in the music press, radio support includes that of Gary Crowley (XFM), Frank Skinner (Absolute) Amy Lamé (BBC London), and Tom Robinson (BBC6 Music) who recently placed the band on his 6 Music Mixtape.
The boys have also found time to tour the UK (twice!), sign a large publishing deal, set up their own club-night at 93 Feet East ('The best club night in the UK' said The Times in Germany!) and befriend Michael Winner via Twitter. Plus they sport the best shirts in the music business. Fact.
