In today's Daily Rap R Kelly found not guilty, Snoop Dogg's wife arrested, Jay Z sued and Lil Wayne on course to go platinum.
R Kelly Acquitted
After looking at the possibility of up to fifteen years behind bars, R&B singer R Kelly was found not guilty on fourteen charges all relating in some way or form to child pornography. The charges which came about in 2002 stemmed from a video which was said to have allegedly shown Kelly engaging in sexual acts with a minor.
Both Kelly and the girl speculated to be in the video denied it being them and neither testified during the case in Chicago which lasted seven days.
R Kelly is famed for hits such as Bump n Grind and Step in the Name of Love. He was recently caught up in the middle of another scandal when his publicist of years Regina Daniels walked away from the position she has held for over ten years.
Snoops wife arrested
Shante Broadus, wife of Snoop Dogg was arrested and charged last night in California for driving under the influence. Traveling alone Mrs. Broadus was arrested and then released pending a court appearance from an Orange County jail.
Shante and Snoop married in 1997 and recently renewed their vows to each other. The couple have three children and their home life has recently been a focal point for the E networks Fatherhood reality show which shows the daily life of the Broadus family.
Rapper Jay Z sued for $88 million but makes Forbes Top Ten list of Celebrity 100
Boxer Mitchell Rose has filed an $88 million lawsuit against mogul Jay Z after the boxer says the rapper born Shawn Carter stole his style of rapping. Representatives for Jay Z are yet to comment on the suit, which states that Rose gave Jay Z a demo tape at a boxing match in 2001 and shortly after began using the style of rapping which Rose displayed on the tape.
In positive Jay Z news, a recent deal with Live Nation has seen him grab the number 7 spot on the Forbes celebrity 100 list. Keeping him company three spot ahead is his now wife Beyonce Knowles. The couple were married in April of this year in a secret ceremony.
Lil Wayne heading for a million
Nielsen Soundscan, the company that records album sales have indicated that it is more than likely that Cash money rapper Lil Wayne will go platinum within a week with his Carter III project which was released in America on Tuesday of last week.
It will be the highest selling album in a week since Kanye West sold 957,000 copies of his Graduation project in September of last year.
The last album to go platinum in a week was 50 Cent in 2005 with The Massacre.
