Brixton hip-hop pioneer Marvin releases his debut digital only album ‘Devil In The Distance’ on No Carbon Records in the UK on July 28th 2008. The album is preceded by new single That One Time on July 7th.

Having rallied and dumbfounded audiences on UK tours with Example, Yes Boss, Lethal Bizzle and Mobo award winner Akala, and having so far released two critically acclaimed singles (Super Hero and Get By Be Good), South London’s self-effacing hip-hop Superhero Marvin finally brings us his much anticipated debut long player Devil in The Distance.

The album deals with everything from the difficult relationships of First Born (about Marvin’s relationship with his mum and sister) 'the hardest song I ever had to write', to the pressures and fears of growing up surrounded by an invasive gun and knife culture.

Beyond the media sensation of apocalyptic teenage violence, Goodbye gives insight into a harrowing escape 'if the gun I fired had connected who knows what would have happened?' while Fight or Flee and Get By (Be Good) explore the brutal struggles and frustrations of trying to avoid the troubles compounded by Devil In The Distance.

The tempered anger, intelligence and eloquence of Marvin’s delivery reflects the maturity of album closer Carry Me, 'I’m just asking that maybe some of the weight of the world be shared equally. We all need a little help.'
