U.S. rapper Mims has been accused of cancelling a gig because of his "discriminatory" attitude towards women - and is being sued as a result.Talent agent Marquitta Blair has filed a $7.5 million (£3.75 million) lawsuit against the star - real name Shawn Mims - for failing to appear at the Eugene nightclub in Manhattan, New York, despite allegedly receiving a $2,500 (£1,250) deposit prior to his scheduled 10-minute performance on 5 April (07).And Blair believes his failure to honour the $10,000 (£5,000) commitment is because of his derogatory feelings towards women, reports PageSix.com.According to papers filed by the 22-year-old in Rockland County Court, Mims' misogynistic views are "a pattern of conduct involving the belittlement and degrading of females as b**ches and ho's."
Latino Songwriter Salgado Shot
Latino songwriter/producer Fabio Alonso Salgado has been shot by one of his employees.The music impresario - who has worked with Ricky Martin and Shakira - was critically wounded in the chest and the back of the head following the attack at around 11:30pm on Friday (25May07) by 29-year-old Francisco Oliveria, who was delivering marijuana to Salgado.Salgado was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where his condition was described as "near fatal", but was able to speak to police and identify the gunman.
Oliveria, who had been employed by Salgado for five years as a handyman. is reportedly being charged with attempted murder, and is currently being held at the Miami-Dade County Jail.
Salgado, known also as Estefano, has also worked with Gloria Estefan, Enrique Iglesias, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony.
Young Jeezy Arrested At Strip Club
Georgia rapper Young Jeezy started Friday (25May07) in jail after he was arrested for disorderly conduct in a strip club.DeKalb County Police took Jeezy, real name Jay Jenkins, into custody after arriving at popular Atlanta club Stoker's early this morning.
Details about the disorderly conduct charge have not been released.
The rapper was released after posting bail.
50 Cent Album Release Stalled
Fans of 50 CENT will have to wait over two months for the rapper's new album, CURTIS, after record label bosses stalled the project's release.The album was set to hit stores on 26 June (07), but, following poor reviews for the rapper's new singles, industry bigwigs have reportedly decided to rework the marketing campaign surrounding the release.
Curtis will now hit stores at the beginning of September (07).
As previously reported, the album will feature guests such as Eminem, Timbaland, Akon and Justin Timberlake.
