It was reported late last week that New Line movies are working on releasing a movie about legendary West Coast collective N.W.A.

The group which emerged in the late 1980s erupted onto the Hip-Hop scene with their groundbreaking album Straight Outta Compton which featured the highly controversial single F**k Tha Police.

The movie which is said to be titled the same as their 1988 multi platinum selling classic album is said to be produced by Ice Cube and Dr. Dre who were original members of the collective as well as the widow of Eazy E, another member of the group who died in 1995 with AIDS. They are currently looking for a director to work on the movie.

School Visit Cancelled

TI who will be heading to jail on March 27th had a trip to a Brooklyn Middle School cancelled after officials deemed the trip inappropriate.

TI who has been visiting schools and talking to children about keeping on the right side of the law as part of his community service since being arrested for firearms possession was to be joined by Danyel Smith, the Editor of Vibe magazine.

Crown heights Middle School for the Arts believed that TI and Ms Smith were ‘more interested in promoting themselves than reaching out to the children’ so the visit that was scheduled to take place on Friday was cancelled.

Notorious B.I.G

Today marks the 12th anniversary of the murder of rapper Christopher Wallace who was gunned down while in Los Angeles attending the Soul Train Awards.

An unidentified male shot the Notorious B.I.G while in transit as he was making his way from an after-party with friends Damien ‘D Roc’ Butler and Lil Cease in a convoy of SUVs. To this day the case has never been solved and various allegations and law suits have been brought against the LAPD for withholding evidence in this highly prolific case.

The recent movie Notorious starring Jamal Woodard depicted the life of the rapper during his rise and his success and was accompanied by a soundtrack which featured some of the rappers most ‘notorious’ tracks.

Jennifer Hudson to play Oprah

It has been rumored that Oscar/Grammy winner Jennifer Hudson is being tipped to play the lead role of a movie about media mogul Oprah Winfrey.

John Dixon, a screenwriter, is said to be working to be working on the movie which he believes will be picked up for further development by Harpo Productions, the media company owned by Winfrey, for further development.

Talking on Hudson playing the star role Dixon said “ I feel that Hudson will no doubt rein in another Academy nomination for her portrayal of Oprah. I see many similarities in Winfrey and Hudson, not only do they look and act alike as in (The Color Purple and The Secret Life Of Bees) but they also seem to have the same positive vibe."
