Following the success of his 2004 Trouble and the 2006 Konvicted, both which sold well over a million copies each, Konvicted almost three, Senegalese singer/producer Akon releases his third album this week.

Freedom sees the singer who has worked with a variety of artists including Gwen Stefani, Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston is changing up his style somewhat with this project. Understanding that music sales are constantly dropping.

Akon thought trying something somewhat different might encourage his success to continue. "Everyone knows the Konvict sound already, so we had to switch it up -- a lot," he says. "Now we're bringing the whole Euro-club sound."

The album which has a more up-tempo club feel to it boasts appearances from Konvict Music’s brightest star T Pain, Lil Wayne and Young Jeezy and there are talks about a remix of one of the tracks from the album featuring Sting and Bono.

Akon and Lil Wayne Party a No No

Various Premier League footballers have been banned from jetting off to Miami to a star studded Hip-Hop party thrown by Lil Wayne and Akon. Players for Chelsea and Sunderland including Didier Drogba and El-Hadji Diouf have been told NO by their respective managers as it will upset both the momentum and morale of the teams if they opt to head to the Floridian Haven for the Hip-Hop elite to celebrate with the performers.

The party is expected to occur during Christmas week.
