He headlined the legendary UK festival amidst much controversy, but when all was said and done, Jay Z wowed fans and critics with his performance at Glastonbury this year.
In London on Thursday night , Jay Z added another award to his extensive collection this time for Most Memorable Moment during the 2008 UK Festival Season for his performance at Glastonbury.
Jay Z who faced criticism from the likes of Noel Gallagher did put on the performance of a life time when he took the main stage in June this year.
Def Jam President Commits Suicide
Shakir Stewart, who took over the role of President at Def Jam when Jay-Zs three years was up this year committed suicide on Saturday.
Stewart, an Oakland native was found in his Atlanta apartment with one self inflicted gun shot wound to his head and was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital.
Stewart was a well liked person within the music industry and this news has shocked and saddened many who had the pleasure of being both friend and acquaintance to him.
He leaves a girlfriend and a five year old daughter.
Lil Wayne puts hold on Champagne
Rapper Lil Wayne has factored in the struggling economy to when he will be launching his own brand of champagne, Halo.
Wayne, who partnered with Milestone Brands and Voirin-Jumeh was hoping to put Halo on the shelves in time for Christmas but due to the economic climate, the decision has been made to hold off on launching the bubbly.
Lupe Appeases Fans with Triple CD
Chicago rapper Lupe Fiasco will be retiring from Hip-Hop with a bang he announced during a show on Friday night in his home city.
Lupe explained to fans that his final album titles LupEND will actually consist of three CDs and not just the typical one.
This will be Lupe’s third major release and it was with great disappointment that the rapper announced his retirement so soon into his career.
However the young rapper who won the support of Kanye West and Jay Z suffered from possibly one of the most damaging leaks when his highly anticipated debut album Food and Liquor hit the net not once, but twice before the album was officially released.
His last album The Cool has been certified Gold in the US by the R.I.A.A
