In today's Daily Rap we learn that Dr Dre's new album won't be out in time for Christmas, Travis Barker writes a blog on his recent plane crash, Queen Latifah refuses to address her sexuality and Lupe Fiasco considers retirement.
Detox not expected this year
People had hoped that Detox, the third solo album from Dr. Dre would be on the shelves for Christmas.
However in a recent interview Aftermath recording artist Bishop Lamont who is currently on tour with Guilty Simpson and Black Milk in Europe has told a reporter during an interview that we shouldnât expect to see the album this year.
The reason for the slow release of possibly the most anticipated album are now, according to Bishop Lamont, due to Dr Dreâs motivation.
The loss of his son in August this year has had a tremendous effect on the multi platinum producer according to sources close to the Aftermath camp. So it is understandable that the album will be pushed back again.
Travis Barker blogs on Fatal Plane Crash
Travis Barker, former band member of Blink 182 posted a blog on his myspace page this weekend, explaining his loss after two of his closest friends were killed in a plane crash that took the lives of four people in total last month in South Carolina.
Barker along with friend DJ AM who was also on the plane suffered considerable burns but will make a full recovery. DJ AM was released from hospital earlier this month and has been to visit Barker in LA where he will be undergoing his seventh surgery this week to encourage him back to full health.
The blog thanked friends, family and fans who have been along side him through all of the trauma concluding that he is âjust counting the days until I can leave. I can't wait to get home to play drums with my son, and go for bike rides with my daughter.â
Queen Latifah refuses to address her sexuality
Iconic female rapper Queen Latifah continues to avoid any questions asked about her sexuality, firmly stating that it is nothing to do with anyone.
It has been speculated for many years that the rapper and Grammy winner is actually gay and every time Latifah finds herself in the limelight this age old question pertaining to her sexuality comes up again.
Currently promoting her new movie the The Secret Life of Bees, directed by Jada Pinkett-Smith, Queen Latifah born Dana Owens said in the New York Times "I don't have a problem discussing the topic of somebody being gay, but I do have a problem discussing my personal life," when the topic had been approached.
Lupe Fiasco talking retirement
After only two released album Chicago MC Lupe Fiasco is talking retiring from Hip-Hop. The rapper who burst onto the charts with his catchy Kick Push track back in 2006 has been deemed a âbreath of fresh airâ to Hip-Hop due to his unique delivery and lyrical ability.
His first album Food and Liquor was leaked to the internet twice before it was officially on shelves causing extreme distress for the rapper who said the album had been ten years in the making.
His follow up to Food and Liquor, The Cool, also released on Atlantic records released this year is to be remixed by French house act Justice. Reasons as to why the rapper is talking retirement are unclear.
