Today's Daily Rap sees Lil Wayne chasing a collaboration with Eminem, Ludacris upsets his fans and 50 Cent gives something back. Elsewhere. there will be a hip-hop jewellry auction next month which aims to raise money for various charities.
Lil Wayne looking to work with Eminem
The multi-platinum selling artist Lil Wayne recently told UK DJ Semtex in an interview that one of the people he has yet to collaborate with and would like to is Detroitâs very own Eminem.
The Lollipop rapper went on to say that he had reached out to Slim Shadyâs management but failed to get a response when preparing for the Carter II. He hopes eventually this will happen.
Lil Wayne has constantly featured along side a variety of artists during his career in rap. He is now looking forward to working on his own label Young Money Entertainment which plays home to artists such as Bobby Valentino, Niki Minaj and Jae Millz.
Luda upsets fans
Ludacris has upset many of his fans by explaining in a recent interview that he will be focusing more on his acting career now as opposed to music.
The King of South title has always been an open topic of debate between Hip-Hop lovers, some insinuate that TI is actually the crown wearer where as many favor Ludacris as the King.
With five acclaimed albums to his name and one set for a release later this year, Ludacris thinks acting will become his day job. Obviously still involved in music but more in a production role, Ludacris is quote happy to take place in front of the camera.
Having already appeared in movies such as 2 Fast 2 Furious, Crash and Hustle and Flow, the rapper will be appearing in various movies later this year including the Guy Ritchie flick RocknRolla along side Idris Elba.
Hip-Hop Jewelry Auction
An auction which will take place on October 1st of this year will see over 70 pieces of famed Hip-Hop jewelry auctioned off to benefit various charities.
âThe Hip-Hop Crown Jewelsâ will see legendary pieces from MC Lyte, Biz Markie, Tupac Shakur and Slick Rick put up for auction.
The proceeds from the auction which are exceeded to surpass the three million dollar mark and will benefit charitable organizations such as Hip-Hop Summit Action Network and the Diamond Empowerment Fund.
50 Cent gives back
The G Unity Foundation, the philanthropic organization masterminded by 50 Cent will be unveiling a new community garden in Queens which has been redesigned by Walter Hood in late October.
Over $300,000 was used to make Baisley Park a safe haven and learning garden for the communities 52,000 children.
The G Unity Foundation and The New York Restoration Project which is headed up by renowned actress Bette Midler worked together in making this happen and both 50 Cent and Better Midler will be at the official opening in late October.
âPeople never talk about the good that Hip-Hop and rappers do, only the bad and this right here is one of the good things that comes out of what the world seems to think is so negative,â explained one resident of Baisley Park.
