Mos Def joins Beyonce
Rapper Mos Def will be portraying 50's icon Chuck Berry in the movie Cadillac Records. The movie which also sees Beyonce playing Etta James is based around Chicago based blues label Chess Records which was home to Muddy Waters. Gabrielle Union will also be part of the cast for the movie which is expected to hit screens in 2009.
Remy Ma and Papoose to marry
After rumors circulated about the Hip-Hop duo being romantically involved both denied the stories as Remy Ma stood on trial for charges which she has since been found guilty of. The Bronx based rapper who now faces up to 25 years behind bars and her fiance, Brooklyn rapper papoose have now confirmed they were to be married on April 27th aboard a lavish yacht.It is expected that the couple will now be married in prison, where Remy is until she is sentenced on April 23rd. She was found guilty last week on four charges including aggravated assault stemming from an incident in which she allegedly shot Makeda Barnes-Joseph.
Beanie heading to the slammer
Rocafella recording artist Beanie Sigel has been hit with a three month sentence for violating his probation.
The Broad Street Bully spent a year in prison in 2004 on federal gun charges and was then acquitted of a murder charge only a month after his release was found guilty of tampering with urine samples.
He was found to have tested positive for Xanax and Percocet, citing financial problems as a major issue in his life right now.
Usher 'ushers' in new band
R&B singing sensation Usher is co-signing his group One Chance as the new face of R&B. The group which consists of four singers from Chicago are currently working on their new album which will be released through Ushers imprint on J Records US Records.
Usher who is also hard at work on his new album had this to say on his band "I had no doubt that these guys have what it takes to not only live up to the great R&B legends of the past, but to have the same kind of respect and longevity that many of those greats still enjoy today."
The quartet have collaborated with Fabo from D4L on their first single Look at Her which is being termed as Snap and B, a derivative of Atlanta's snap music, with a twist of R&B.
