The Clipse get out of deal with Jive

The Clipse have finally been released from their deal at Jive Records after an extensive waiting game. The brothers who released their first album on Startrak/Jive back in 2002 took until last year to release another record after issues with their label when Stratrak left Jive for Interscope.

The label wasn't going to release the duo who's first album God willing was certified platinum and they sat in limbo on the label until last year when they released Hell Hath No Fury.

The two are now signed to Columbia under the watchful eye of Rick Rubin. The Clipse will be releasing their Re-Up project which features rappers Ab Liva and Sandman early in 2008 and a release from Pusha T and Malice is scheduled for Summer 08.

Dr. Dre Sued

Notorious producer Dr Dre is being sued by employees of the City of Detroit who claim a conversation they had with the rapper was recorded and then placed on a DVD without their consent. The suit comes from an incident in 2000 when city officials requested that Dre not show a video which included nudity during a concert in the city.

The three officials are saying they were unaware that they were being recorded even though cameras were present in the room during the conversation.

It has yet to be determined if the Wayne County Circuit Judge John A. Murphy will allow this case to actually go to court but he has however requested time to review the case before making his decision.
