Not since T2’s ‘Heartbroken’ and before that So Solid’s ’21 Seconds’ has an underground track been so destined for crossover success. Already an online phenomenon and club anthem – get ready to hear ‘Heads, Shoulders, Knees & Toes’ like you’ve never heard it before.
Hitty, Creeper and Mr Bubbly otherwise know as Hackney funky house collective KIG made the stellar track in Sept 08. A product of a late night session in their studio, the old school friends decided to create an accompanying video showing strangers in Central London doing the Heads, Shoulders, Knees & Toes dance. Returning home the trio uploaded the track onto You tube.
The result so far is astonishing, having in excess of 700,000 + views to date. As club and radio DJ's struggled to get their hands on the track many went to the extreme of lifting the song off the video footage to play out and about and over our airwaves.
Play listed as an unsigned demo on Kiss 100 and 1Xtra and riding high on the nations club charts the track turned the industry on its heads – causing a label scramble to sign the addictive single.
Now calling AATW/ Island home, the song continues to build momentum, picking up spins across Radio 1 and remaining a firm favourite in club land with hot new remixes by Donae’o, HTwo0 and TwoFace.
Heating up internationally the highly sought after track has already seen versions from Jamaican dancehall heavy weight Babycham, Ronsons protÈgÈ Wale (who features on Daniel Merriweather’s new single) and Canadian rapper Kardinal Official.
