Akon apologizes
Singer Akon recently released a statement apologizing for his actions at his recent concert in Trinidad where he partook in provocative dancing, which some media outlets have compared to simulated sex with a minor. The singer who has sold in excess of two million copies of his sophomore album Knovicted had this to say about the recent event "First, and most important to me, I want to sincerely apologize for the embarrassment and any pain I've caused to the young woman who joined me on-stage, her family and the Trinidad community for the events at my concert in Port of Spain on April 12th.It was never my intention to embarrass or take advantage of my fans in any way, especially those under the age of 18. That is why we tried to make sure that the club did not admit anyone under 18 in the audience. Somehow, that standard was not met. Again, I apologize to those concerned and to all my fans and I pledge to all that we will strive to make sure this type of incident does not happen again."
This statement comes after communication giant Verizon decided to pull out of sponsoring Gwen Stefani's Summer tour because Akon was also sharing the bill.
Ne-Yo debuts well
Def Jam singer Ne-Yo who has made a name for himself not just as a singer but as a song writer with clients such as Beyonce, Mario, Celine Dion made a great impression with his sophomore project Because of You.The album which features appearances by Oscar winner Jenifer Hudson and Def Jam President Jay Z sold 255,000 copies according to Nielson's soundscan which allowed him to take control of the top position on the Billboard chart.
Prince heads to London
The famed purple loving pop star is heading to London for 21 dates he revealed earlier this week. "I love London. I've had some of my favorite shows here," he told Reuters. "Last time I was here, a lot of people didn't get to see me, so we're trying to make it affordable for everybody. Another reason why we're trying to stay so long, I just need to take some time off for study and travel."The singer famed for songs such as Raspberry Beret and Purple Rain is planning on taking a break from music and his business endeavors once returning from London.
