In today’s Daily Rap, Rick Ross confesses, Former N.W.A member sues Ruthless, Coolio shuts down Australian Tour and Dame Grease to Exec Produce for LOX.
Rick Ross Confesses
In this months edition of XXL, one of the biggest Hip-Hop magazines in the US, Miami rapper Rick Ross finally confirms that the pictures of him as correctional officer which circulated the net last year are in fact legitimate pictures and he did in fact work for the Prison service prior to becoming a rapper.
Ross, who is currently embroiled in a bitter battle with Queens rapper 50 Cent has up until this point denied holding such a position, one which goes against the persona he portrays today. “Me not answering or addressing that situation has nothing to do with my career. I’ve accomplished enough, and I’ve made enough money for me to be good… Yes, it was me in those pictures. But I’ma tell you this. Me taking that job, I was doing my job. You understand what I mean?”
Ross’s next album Deeper than Rap is said to hit the streets in late April.
Former N.W.A member sues Ruthless
Arabian Prince a former member of cult collective N.W.A which also featured Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Eazy E has filed a suit against former label Ruthless Records for failure to pay him royalties on tracks that he produced and performed on when part of the iconic West Coast group.
One of the tracks that has encouraged this suit which names Jerry Heller, the groups former manager as well as Ruthless Records is used on the Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie’s hit track Fergalicious. The Arabian Prince who owns 20% of the track Supersonic which was used on the song from the BEP singers second album Dutchess and allegedly never gave his permission for the track to be used.
The single has already been in the midst of controversy as Fergie had take lyrical aim at fellow label star Nelly Furtado which then encouraged the two Interscope recording artists to go back and forth with comments about each other.
Coolio shuts down Australian Tour
Due to his arrest and then charges for possession of crack cocaine and felony battery, Gangsters Paradise rapper Coolio will not be heading down under for a string of dates in Australia.
The rapper was arrested at LAX last weekend when authorities found Coolio with crack on his person and a crack pipe in his hand luggage.
Coolio who recently featured on Celebrity Big Brother was released on $10,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on April 3rd.
It is expected that his dates in Australia will be re-scheduled at a later date.
Dame Grease to Exec Produce for LOX
The Yonkers trio D Block made up of Jadakiss, Styles P and Sheek Louch will be putting a smile on the faces of their die hard fan base now that a new album from the rappers is in the works.
This will be the groups first album collectively in eight years and they have called upon Ruff Ryder associate Dame Grease to Executive Produce the album. Grease of Harlem has produced on many of the Ruff Ryder projects including those of DMX and Eve.
The first single Get me Paper from the as of yet untitled album has received positive reviews from critics and fans.
