Release Date for Relapse

After four years of silence, yesterday an official release date was given for Detroit rapper Eminem’s come back album.

The highly anticipated Relapse project which saw Slim Shady reunite with label boss Dr. Dre will be in stores on May 19th and Em explained in a recent interview that we might even see another project from him during the next year, due to the fact that the infamous duo went into the studio and recorded so much music.

Eminem has sold over fifty million records worldwide with his 2000 Marshall Mathers LP project being his most popular. Once this album has been released it is expected that 50 Cent who was signed by Dr. Dre and Eminem will be unleashing his Before I Self Destruct album.

Chris Brown Charged

Singer Chris Brown was in LA yesterday to attend court stemming from the incident involving himself and his singer girlfriend Rihanna.

Chris Brown is said to have assaulted Rihanna while driving home from a Grammy pre party when the duo got into a heated argument. Brown was only in court for five minutes while his legal representation arranged for the singer to appear at a later date. They will return on April 6th.

Brown had been charged earlier in the day by the Los Angeles District Attorney with felony assault and making criminal threats and could face up to four years in prison if found guilty.

Busy Year Ahead for Cam’Ron

Dipset leader Cam’Ron sounds like he is in for a very busy year after talking plans for 2009 this week.

The Purple Haze rapper who disappeared off the scene after a rather vocal ‘beef’ with 50 Cent back in early 2007 has his sights set on making a very big impact this year, with or without his fellow Dipset brethren.

Recent interviews across a wide range of media outlets have indicated that the rift between Cam’Ron, Juelz Santana and Jim Jones may be too far advanced to see the trio come together and work once again, which critics say may set them back individually as collectively they tend to have more appeal than individually.

However Cam has plans to release three albums and two movies in 2009 alone which might sound ambitious but in today’s environment more than possible. His come back album Crime Pays will be available through Diplomats Records/SRC on May 5th.

Nas helps Make-A-Wish Foundation

Queensbridge lyricist Nas, born Nasir Jones has been called upon by the Make-A-Wish Foundation to meet a 13 year old boy who suffers with muscular dystrophy.

The boy, Darnell Hicks cites the rapper as his firm favorite and through the endeavors of the foundation will get to meet his idol backstage after watching him perform at a concert in Los Angeles as well as trips to Disneyland and Universal Studios.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation was founded in 1980 in Arizona and ‘grants wishes’ to kids under the age of 18 who suffer from life threatening illnesses.
