In today's Daily Rap Wale signs with Interscope, R Kelly's case will go to trial, 50 Cnet with host Australia's MTV Awards and there are no suspects in the TI case.
Wale signs with Interscope
Washington DC artist Wale who has been bubbling on the underground for a minute now has been picked up by label giant Interscope. There were numerous labels looking at Wale but Interscope was obviously the label of choice for the DC native.The deal involves Mark Ronson who has been a firm fan of Wale and signed the rapper to his Allido label which is distributed through Interscope back in 2007. The first album from the rapper is expected to hit shelves in the Fall and is expected to feature production from some of the industry heavy weights including Pharell and Timbaland who are both part of the Interscope family.
R Kelly heading to trial
As a date of May 9th has been set for the case which will finally determine whether Chicago singer R Kelly is guilty of underage sex. Two new witnesses have also been said to testify in the trial which will take place in the platinum selling star home city.
Kelly was indicted on child pornography charges in 2002 after he videoed himself having sex with an alleged minor.
Fifty headed down under
Rapper 50 Cent is heading to Australia to host the countries MTV awards, performing for the crowd as well.
His hosting of the annual award shows will coincide with the G Unit Tour planned for Sydney, Auckland and Melbourne. This will be the first time 50 born Curtis Jackson has been 'down under' since 2006.
Fellow rapper Eve is also scheduled to make an appearance at the Award Show which is taking place on April 26th.
Police say no suspects in TI case
Cincinnati police have denied there being any arrests close to being made in the shooting incident involving TI back in 2006.
The shooting which took place after the Atlanta based rapper was leaving a show left three people wounded and the best friend of the rapper dead.
Reports of police being close to making arrests in regards to this incident were first reported on an Atlanta radio station, but local officials said this was untrue and as the crime is still being investigated there was no further comment they could make.
TI is currently on house arrest after being arrested in October of 2007 for purchasing machine guns and silencers.
