Stack Bundles Laid to Rest
Slain rapper Stack Bundles was laid to rest on Monday in New York. The MC born Rayquon Elliot was shot down outside his apartment building in the Queens area of New York in the early hours of Monday morning last week. Fellow rappers such as Jim Jones, Lupe Fiasco and Joe Budden showed up to pay their respects to the rapper who had been notorious on the mixtape scene.A suspect in the murder of the Byrd Gang member was also found shot dead in his apartment in Queens on the same day. The suspect Charles White, 20 had two gunshots to the head and one to the leg. The investigation into both deaths continues.Remy Ma heading for Summer release
Former Terror Squad member and Bronx female MC Remy Martin is looking to release her sophomore project The Bronx Files on August 28th. The record which will be put out through independent label Sure Shot Recordings follows her critically acclaimed debut Something About Remy. The lack of marketing and promotions in place for the South Bronx born and raised MCs debut caused her to leave her situation with SRC recordings. Remy had been 'considered family' by CEO and owner of SRC Steve Rifkind since she was introduced to the industry by the rapper Big Pun."She continues to carry the legacy of her protege Big Pun and we are excited about releasing one of the best female MCs in the game," said the CEO of Sure Shot, Chris Landry.
Church attacks Hip-Hop
A church on the South side of Chicago has placed billboards around the city attacking the artists within Hip-Hop who they believe to be 'demeaning women and perpetrating violence.' Pictures of artists such as Snoop Dogg, Chicago's own Twista, Lil Wayne and Nelly are featured on these billboards.The billboards who were the idea of the Rev. Michael Pfleger and the Saint Sabina Church have received a mixed welcome. But Rev. Pfleger is adamant that measures such as this should be taken If we are going to end the violence and the disrespect of women, we must fight every form of negativity, including the music industry."
50 Cent child support case
The mother of 50 Cent's only son, Marquis is expected to be focusing on the rappers latest money making scheme when the two convene in court this week to discuss child support for their son.50 Cent is speculated to have made $100 million from his stake in Glaceau's Vitamin Water when the company was purchased by Coca Cola last month. A lawyer for Shaniqua Tompkins said that the main topic of conversation in deciding just how much money she is entitled to for raising their son will be the profit from this deal. A lawyer for the rapper said A lawyer for the rapper says, "The extent of his worth is irrelevant. He always has and always will support his son."
