You Me At Six were "concerned" their fans would have forgotten about them when they didn't release new music for two years.
The British rockers recently dropped new track 'Lived a Lie' - which features on forthcoming video game FIFA 14 - but they were worried some of their supporters might have moved on to other bands because they were tired of waiting for them to release new material.
Frontman Josh Franceschi exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "Yeah there were concerns because we hadn't put anything out for a few years. There's always that danger.
"When I was younger if a band I loved didn't put out a record a few years then there were other bands that would fill that space for a while.
"But I honestly believe that with our band it's just a matter of once we come back with the record it's all about reminding people why they loved your band.
"One of the most obvious things I've noticed on our Facebooks and our Twitter is people saying, 'I forgot how much I loved You Me At Six.' That is great for us.
"There's always that worry people might forget about you but that's just life isn't it, if it happens, it happens."
Despite their concerns, guitarist Max Helyer insists it is a positive step for the band to "disappear" for a few years because it gives fans the chance to get excited about their music again.
He added: "I like it when a band kind of disappears. For the first three albums it was touring, recording, touring, recording. There was never a space and chance to breathe and people didn't have chance to almost forget about you.
"Then not putting anything out for two years and then putting that first new song out it gets people all excited again."
