The UK have voted Whitney Houston's version of 'I Will Always Love You' - originally by Dolly Parton - as their favourite cover song.

Followed closely by Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse's take on 'Valerie', the research, conducted by MasterCard in celebration of tonight's (February 24) BRIT Awards looks at some of the nation's favourite covers, as well as those that have been covered too often and those they'd like to see covered.
The top 10 covers were revealed to be:
- Whitney Houston - 'I Will Always Love You'
- Mark Ronson ft. Amy Winehouse - 'Valerie'
- Soft Cell - 'Tainted Love'
- Elvis - 'Always on my Mind'
- Sinead O'Connor - 'Nothing Compares 2 U'
- The Beatles - 'Twist & Shout'
- Jeff Buckley - 'Hallelujah'
- Cyndi Lauper - 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun'
- Blondie - 'Hanging on the Telephone'
- Aretha Franklin - 'Respect'
Comparitavely, the worst 10 voted for by the public were:
- Madonna - 'American Pie'
- Britney Spears - 'I Love Rock'n'Roll'
- Jessica Simpson - 'These Boots Are Made For Walking'
- Avril Lavigne - 'Imagine'
- Busted - 'Teenage Kicks'
- Alexandra Burke - 'Hallelujah'
- Celine Dion & Anastacia - 'You Shook Me All Night Long'
- Alien Ant Farm - 'Smooth Criminal'
- All Saints - 'Under The Bridge'
- Limp Bizkit - 'Behind Blue Eyes'
What may shock some is that 90% of the 1,000 polled didn't realise some of the most iconic songs such as Aretha Franklin's 'Respect' and Cyndi Lauper's 'Girls Just Wanna HAve Fun' were actually covers.
Following his death, David Bowie and his track 'Life On Mars' are what most would now like to see covered, with Queen's 'Somebody To Love' coming in at second and The Beatles' 'Hey Jude' at third.
The research comes after MasterCard partnered with Mark Ronson to produce an official cover of 'Uptown Funk' with six Priceless Surprises fans. You can check out that cover below, and tune into the BRITs tonight on ITV.
