On November 14, 1987, George Michael's debut solo album 'Faith' flew straight to number one on the UK album charts.
Winning several awards including the Grammy for Album of the Year in 1989, George showed how he had the ability to captivate audiences and maintain a gigantic fanbase all on his own.
To date, over 20 million copies of the album have been sold worldwide.
The album went on to produce six Top 5 Billboard Hot 100 hits - 'Faith', 'Father Figure', 'One More Try' and 'Monkey all went number one, making him the only male British singer to get four number one singles from a single album on the Billboard Hot 100.
His most recent projects included new single 'White Light' - which he performed at the 2012 Summer Olympics Closing Ceremony.
Controversial he may be, but his legacy and impact on the industry cannot be denied.
