4Music’s The Pop Powerlist is, once again, revealing the definitive list of influential stars in pop.
This year’s chart reveals that, thanks to her latest album (iTunes fastest selling ever), the launch of her perfume, Rise and a Grammy performance with husband Jay-Z, Beyoncé prevails as The Pop Powerlist’s queen of pop.
It also reveals that despite the success of This Is Us and a combined Twitter following of 68 million, One Direction have been beaten to the number two spot by Little Mix, whose partnerships with Superdrug and Schwarzkopf and a number one album in the US have catapulted them into the top ten for the first time.
Katy Perry’s split with John Mayer hasn’t affected her pop power as she has maintained her place at number four while last year’s number one Rihanna has slipped four places as her film roles, massive social media following and huge number one single with Eminem are just enough to keep her in the top five.
Pharrell, Jason Derulo, Bruno Mars and Britney Spears all make their debuts in the top ten this year following a year of Vivienne Westwood hats, Happy, Superbowl appearances and Las Vegas residencies while JT holds on to a place in the top ten after his Grammy performance, dropping just one position from 2013.
Presented by Matt Edmonson, the show, on 4Music this Sunday 20th April at 2pm counts down the 50 most powerful in people in pop music in 2014 over the course of an exclusive four-hour show.
