Regardless of how angry we were we still could find those moments of fun and beauty on stage together.

In November last year the group went on hiatus citing ‘internal discord and irreconcilable differences of ambition.’ But we are glad that they are finally back with new material.

With haunting vocal harmonies and poignant lyrics their first album Barton Hallow was released in 2011, it peaked at number 10 on the US Billboard 200 chart.Their sophomore album is expected to triumph the first, their album has been estimated to maybe sell 100,000 copies by the end of this week (Sunday, August 11th)

The new Billboard 200 chart top 10 will be revealed next Wednesday (14th) and I have my fingers crossed that their album will reach the top of the charts. I feel like ‘The Civil Wars’ are undervalued for their amazing vocal and song writing talents. Their first album made it to the number one spot on the Billboard Folk Album charts but it will be an even bigger achievement if the duo can make it to the number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart.

The group are barely hanging on by a thread, it has been said that the pair are not on speaking terms and with this chilly climate their second album is released. The band claim that the album was almost left unfinished due to the fragile bond between the pair.

Joy Williams stated in a recent interview, when asked about the tension between the pair on stage she commented by saying ‘It was a gradual build, I feel like, and that's common. Bands have disagreements and arguments all the time, and then the show must go on. But the thing that was always really magical was — regardless of how angry we were — we still could find those moments of fun and beauty onstage together. It was like, if we lost the language between the two of us offstage, we could always find the language onstage.’

I really enjoy their authentic sound. They have an easy charm, a sound rooted by Folk and Country their music is extremely smooth. So smooth that Adele took them on the road and the pair famously lent their vocals for a duet with Country Pop superstar Taylor Swift.

I hope they push their personal differences aside so I can hear more music from them in the future, if not they will have two compelling albums under their belt and if their sophomore album makes it to number one spot – well that will definitely be a beacon of light, something worth celebrating amongst the tension and discord.
