Female First can today exclusively reveal the brilliant new Kat Eaton music video for the singer's latest single 'Giving It Up'. With an incredible voice and clear passion for the business, Kat is truly one of the most exciting talents of the present day.
Born in Cardiff and raised in Sheffield before her move to London, Kat's an artist who's making a name for herself in the UK capital, launching her solo career successful towards the end of 2013 before gaining some great support from BBC Introducing.
Following the release of her debut EP 'Live At The Foundry' in 2014, she decided to focus her energies on honing and perfecting her sound as a recording artist, and so she stepped back into the studio to truly define herself and record this brand new track.
Chatting about the tune, Kat says: "'Giving It Up' is all about giving up being angry. I wanted to make something positive out of a negative situation and songwriting is always the best form of therapy! From the title you'd probably think the song was about giving up on somebody but actually it's the polar opposite. Too often we let ourselves get caught up in who did what to whom but sometimes you just need to let it go and move on!"
Kat worked with musicians and producers Chris McDonald, Rod Da Rosa and Nick Atkinson in co-production of her new single, working together with them to bring forward one of her best releases to-date.
Towards the end of work on the single, heavily in-demand producer Neros caught wind of the song and offered to add some finishing touches, making 'Giving It Up' an incredible showcase piece.
Influenced by a wide spectrum of music, artists and inspirations, this is an artist whose passion lies with blues and soul. The likening to Joe Cocker, Amy Winehouse, Paloma Faith and Paolo Nutini is no surprise when you let her vocals soak in.
Proving a hit through her residency at The World's End in Finsbury Park along with performances at Ronnie Scott and Kensington Roof Gardens, Kat will be stepping out onto the road in a brand new tour later this year, kicking things off in July.
