American cult singer/songwriter Jeff Finlin is to release 'Life After Death - The Essential Jeff Finlin' on September 9 in the UK, featuring incredible tracks such as 'Jesus Was A Motorcycle Man', showcased in the below fan video.
Further tracks include 'Sugar Blue' from the Elizabethtown film soundtrack, and the dark Americana tune, 'I Killed Myself Last Night'.
With work that pushes against the boundaries set by man-made genres, Finlin provides funny, insightful, playful sardonic work that documents a spiritual path in poetry and song.
Also set to release his book of poetry, The Seduction of Radha, we have the incredible opportunity to host one of the pieces from the book here today.
Bedouin Bored
Maybe I will speak for the first time like the Bedouin become bored
with his mind
dragging in the sand
and the rock
and the blood
of his
camel
pumping in the stillness
of endless sky and sand
of the moment
as he goes nowhere
chewing his cud
round and round
in the nervousness of
his plight
hump hanging over
like the tired old breast
of an American hag…
and the words will ring from me like a stranger
as he realizes
the grass as it grows
and the tree
sucking sunlight
and the futile
need for moving on
screeches to a halt in his flesh
against the grandeur
of the need
for nothing really
but the breath that breathes itself
and the moon that rises itself
Against the crops swaying far away
and a bird singing
in a flash
of a breeze blowing
the sound
and silence
of the here
now
