Glastonbury announced its full line-up this week and we for one are rather impressed not just by the names playing, but that they still let Glastonbury maintain the identity of truly being the festival with something for everybody.
Don’t like rock and roll? Then you can go check out CHIC ft Nile Rodgers. Into something a little more dancey? Well head over to the John Peel Stage and kick it to Crystal Castles.
Glastonbury has always been a festival that valued having an eclectic roster, something that over the last few years has had the festival announce unusual headliners like Jay-Z and even have comedy Kiwi duo Flight Of The Conchords play at the event.
Looking over the full line-up, the major thing that strikes you is the incredible variation there is in the artists set to appear. Even on the Pyramid Stage itself, there are massive contrasts that would only be found at Glastonbury. Nowhere else would you find The Rolling Stones, Laura Mvula, First Aid Kit, Dizzee Rascal and Billy Bragg on the same stage.
It’s this diversity that makes Glastonbury still able to stand out from the festival crowd, despite the explosion in events that has taken place over the last decade. While Download might have come along and become the biggest pure rock festival around, Glastonbury has become something much bigger whilst still keeping its cred levels in check.
Could they have gone weirder? Of course, they could have gotten Daft Punk to take over the Pyramid Stage or someone else as left field, but having The Rolling Stones play there for the first time in the 50 year careers is a big enough headline for most people.
The festival though has massive amounts of quality throughout, not just on the major stages, but on the minor ones too. From Newton Faulkner and Lucy Rose at the Avalon Stage to Aluna George and TEED at Silver Waves, wherever you look on the list there are noteworthy names.
We’ve got in massive full list for you below though, so you can feast your eyes on all those lovely names.
What do you think of the Glastonbury line up for this year though? Let us know in the comments section.
