Friday is upon us once more, and what better way to get ready for the weekend than with some incredible music? Storm Doris has been and gone and now it’s time to kick back and relax. Here we run down five of the newest and biggest tracks available to get you in the mood for the weekend…
5. James TW – ‘Ex’
Discovered by Shawn Mendes, this 19-year-old singer has signed to Island Records and continues to go from strength to strength as one of the biggest British success stories of the last few years. Supporting Mendes on his 2016 world tour, James’ debut EP ‘First Impressions’ was streamed over 100 million times, with lead track ‘When You Love Someone’ streamed over 60 million times alone. Now back with his new single ‘Ex’ and its accompanying video, James will be headlining London’s Bush Hall on April 12 and undoubtedly be gearing up to showcase even more new material.
4. LION BABE – ‘Rockets’ ft. Moe Moks
The incredible New York duo are back with ‘Rockets’, a track they say is about creating “good times in a crazy world”. Featuring fellow New Yorker Moe Moks, the tune is set to appear on a new EP that’ll drop this spring. It comes after their critically-acclaimed debut album ‘Begin’ and their summer mixtape ‘Sun Joint’, both which earned them great reviews and some major gigs at the likes of Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds and their first headline US show.
3. Earl – ‘Tongue Tied’
With her own unique blend of pop and jazz, Earl is an incredible and ambitious talent who’s not afraid to bash down the boundaries set by those who may have come before her. Set to join Rick Astley as a special guest on his sold out 23-date UK tour in March and April, Earl’s debut album drops later this year and includes some fantastic collaborations with the likes of Paloma Faith and Basement Jaxx. Now though, new single ‘Tongue Tied’ is to become Radio 2’s ‘Single of the Week’ next week, so what better way to spend your weekend than with this one on a loop?!
2. Chloe Martini with Ruby Francis – ‘Shape of You’ (Ed Sheeran Cover)
Next month will see Chloe Martini release her second EP ‘Never Twice The Same’, but in the gap between major releases she’s done an incredible Ed Sheeran cover with fellow talent, Ruby Francis. The smooth and sultry refix brings new life to the chart-topping song and is the perfect rework to get you back into a song that has arguably otherwise been a touch overplayed!
1. Vanessa White – ‘Good Good’
Vanessa White is back! Following on from her incredible 2016, she’s now released a new track she penned, produced by rising London producer Mkulu, and we cannot get enough. Speaking about the new track and upcoming EP, Vanessa told The FADER: “[This] is my most honest music ever. It’s so personal and draws from my own experiences so I can’t wait for everyone to hear this new phase.” We can’t wait to see and hear what she’s planning to release next.
