Le Grind are our favourite new electro trio and have just released their amazing new single, ‘Bricks’; one of the catchiest songs we've heard this year! They are Reyna Lauren (vocals), Gareth (songwriting / instrumentation / production) and Boo (drums / production).
Formed on the sticky dance floor of a nightclub in Queens, New York, London-based friends Gareth and Boo met native New Yorker Reyna Lauren whilst collectively singing along to a Prince track. Quickly forming a close bond, the trio recorded their debut underground club track ‘I Was There (Where Were You?)’. The track received glowing press and the promo even featured a cameo by Marc Almond. Recent single ‘Pillow Talk’ was a smash and now that they’re back on the music scene, bolder and better than ever before, we’re excited to see what the future holds.
To celebrate the release of new single ‘Bricks’, we asked the trio to create us a weekend playlist and, lucky for us, they obliged! Listen and read about their track choices below:
Showing out (Get Fresh At The Weekend) - Mel & Kim
"It only takes a moment to feel alright", we hear you girls. This is the perfect way to prepare yourself for the weekend. If the song doesn't put you in the good mood, looking at their back-combed hair on the MP3 artwork will.
24K Magic
If you're going out on the town to 'get lucky' you need to feel pretty damn good about yourself. 4 minutes of cocky, smooth, swagger from Mr Mars should do the trick.
Lucky Star (Extended) – Madonna
This is the extended mix of Madonna's Lucky Star. At just over 7mins long it gives you enough time to dry your hair and still have time to dance around your bedroom when you're done.
Love At First Sight - Kylie Minogue
This song is joy captured and put into pop, who isn't looking for love at first sight at the weekend?
Bricks - Le Grind
We all need a little more sass in our lives and we hope that listening to this song, no matter what you're doing, makes your life that little sassier. Werk girl, werk!
I Feel For You - Chaka Khan
When we die, we want the last words we say to be "Cha-Cha-Cha-Cha Chaka Khan". This song is everything.
Flawless - The Ones
Your mug is painted, your hair is did, you're flawless. Now go get your life this weekend.
Million Dollar Bill - Freemasons Mix - Whitney Houston
If this song doesn't make you want to dance you should call a doctor because you're probably dead. Come on, Whitney!
Step It Up (Feat. Dave Aude) – RuPaul
It's the weekend, you want to live your life turned up to 11, so who better to turn to to feel extraordinary than a drag queen.
You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real) – Sylvester
You're finally at the club, twirling under a disco ball and this track comes on - everything in life is just fine.
