Alesha Dixon is back with her first solo single since 2011, and though we've not yet heard the potential future hit in its entirety, this one and a half minute teaser proves it's an uptempo anthem-in-the-making that draws on the sound of her past.
Currently judging on Britain's Got Talent, Alesha has a busy schedule ahead of her and is to release 'The Way We Are' on June 21 in the UK, as the lead single from her forthcoming new studio album.
Dixon wrote the track alongside Alex James and Harry Sommerdahl, and is to release it independently through her own label.
Speaking of the song, she said: "I'm so excited to announce my new single! I'm bringing it back to my first love, the music.
""Doing it independently this time feels great, I love being the boss and taking the reigns creatively. The message in this track is special to me because it's about being comfortable in your own skin, having confidence in yourself, 'The Way We Are', which at the end of the day is what matters."
Her fourth solo album will be released before the end of the year - her first since 2010's 'The Entertainer'. To-date, Alesha's achieved three platinum-selling albums and nine singles that hit the top ten during her time in Mis-Teeq and as a solo artist.
The music video for her new single has been filmed in Paphos, Cyprus and saw Alesha film three different endings to the clip, before handing over power to the fans. Now they can choose the ending which should make the cut at firstchoice.co.uk/music.
