The New Cities
You know those times in life when you hear a band and think ‘crikey O‘reilly, these guys are awesome - I need everything they’ve ever done…?’ Well I’ve just had one of those moments.
Anyone who knows me know I can often get way too over excited when I hear a new band and proclaim ‘they’re the next big thing’ but I’m going to say it now, so if you don’t like it, probably best you click elsewhere.
After The Professor linked me up to a YouTube video I decided to see if the rest of their songs were just as good, and woo hoo, they were - thank God for MySpace (I’m still on there).
It seems that I’m not the only one who is a fan of this Blink 182 / Bowling For Soup / New Found Glory mash-up either, as they have an impressive 18,971 MySpace friends (18,972 when I’ve finished writing this) and I’m certain after they finish their UK tour that number will be cranked up somewhat.
According to their biography, by a Mr Rupert Bottenberg, the band blend “the timeless tastiness of classic synth-pop to the intensity and dynamics of modern punk and the irrefutable rump mobilization of the recent dance-rock insurgence”
Whilst I have to be honest about the fact that I don’t think their first single, Dead End, Countdown, is the strongest on their MySpace (God I sound like such a teenager) I am actually dead, dead excited to get my paws on the full album which is set to hit in May.
So go now, and check them out!
