Welcome back to the fourth edition of The Weekend Playlist.
Each week, we pick a selection of songs tied together by some kind of theme, write about them and provide some nice links for you to listen along.
After reggae-influenced tracks, songs by our interviewees and songs with summer in the title, we're taking things acoustic this week with our Revival Tour playlist.
The Revival Tour was amazing when it rolled into Manchester on Wednesday, and we're trying to hold onto that night for a little longer.
Besides our interviews with the talent (be sure to check out our interview with Dan Andriano), we thought we'd make a playlist of artists who've played the tour, past and present.
As always, you can listen along to the playlist here, or find the extended version with over 100 songs right here.
1. The Boat - Chuck Ragan
The founder, planning, organiser and face of The Revival Tour, Chuck Ragan has helped lead the recent trend in folk-punk.
Front-man of punk act Hot Water Music, The Boat lets Chuck prove that acoustic folk can still be extremely powerful, and it's a great way to kick off this week's playlist.
2. Great Expectations (acoustic) - The Gaslight Anthem
Brian Fallon put on a brilliant show as part of the tour on Wednesday, and a highlight was a collaborative acoustic version of this Gaslight Anthem track.
Showing the powerful and sensitive sides to Fallon's vocals, it's a good introduction to one of this generation's best songwriters.
3. Hollow Sounds - Dan Andriano in the Emergency Room
The Alkaline Trio member released his debut solo album recently, and any one of the songs could've fit in this playlist.
It's a beautiful record, but we decided to go with the chilled out 'Hollow Sounds'.
4. The Real Damage - Frank Turner
A track that's become a live favourite for the old-school fans, 'The Real Damage' is a relatable tale of "the morning after", being hungover after a house party.
It shows Turner's talents as a storyteller, and it's pretty damn catchy too.
5. Because Of The Shame (acoustic) - Against Me!
Against Me! front-man Tom Gabel has played on The Revival Tour over in the States, and we had a lot to pick from with the band's acoustic-leanings on a few of their records and b-sides.
We went with this, a newly-released acoustic version of a ballad from their recent White Crosses/Black Crosses re-issue.
6. Coma Girl - The Loved Ones
It's the only cover on the list, but Dave Hause does this so well it's impossible not to include this Joe Strummer hit.
A nice twist on the punk track, it embodies the spirit of The Revival Tour - a punk rock edge with a heavy folk influence, it pays a nice homage to its roots.
7. Ladykiller - The Horrible Crowes
Brian Fallon has recently released his first record with Ian Perkins, under the name The Horrible Crowes.
A big, atmospheric number, it shows a more tender side to Fallon's diverse song-writing as he once again lays claim to being one of the best song-writers today.
8. Enjoy Your Day - Alkaline Trio
Despite the vocals not being technically fantastic, the emotion on this song is incredible and moving.
Heart-felt lyrics about wishing a former lover the best as she settles into her new life, this is one of Dan Andriano's best masterpieces, in both its depth and simplicity.
9. If Ever I Stray - Frank Turner
Most of the acts have two projects they dipped into for their respective Revival Tour aspects, but Turner rarely delves into the Million Dead back catalogue at this stage.
We've got with a second Turner song, this time the newest single from his recent record England Keep My Bones, one of the most "folk" songs he has released to date.
10. Harsh Realms - Tom Gabel
As with most of the punk stars' solo projects, this allowed Tom Gabel to further explore the acoustic side to his music, stripping it down to its rawest form.
'Harsh Realms' is taken from his only solo album to date, and fits nicely into our more chilled out playlist.
11. Meet You In The Middle - Chuck Ragan
Ragan's band Hot Water Music don't really fit into the relaxed, acoustic-driven mood set with this week's playlist.
We've gone with this song from his recent solo offering Covering Ground, featuring guest vocals from one Brian Fallon.
12. C'mon Kid - Dave Hause
After just writing about the acoustic-driven, chilled feel to the playlist, we come to this effort from Dave Hause.
Whilst it's a bit heavier, and does feature electric guitars, it's still carried by an acoustic feel.
Plus, it's just an absolutely phenomenal, motivational song written to help his friend stay off drugs.
That does us for this week. Once again, you can listen to the playlist here, or the extended version (featuring some material from each act's band) here.
