Welcome back to the 10th edition of The Weekend Playlist. Last time, we reached the end of our series looking at 50 of the greatest covers of all time.
This week, we've got our second Guest Playlist, courtesy of one of ska's best current acts, Suburban Legends.
The band gave us some of their favourite party tunes, ranging from Elvis Presley and A*Teens to Beach Boys and New Riot.
While your reading the article, check out their playlist on Spotify right here.
1. Faith - George Michael
Brian Klemm says: It's one of my favourite songs.
Female First says: Interesting way to kick off the party, it's a sure-fire singalong moment and an undeniably fun tune.
2. Suspicious Minds - Elvis Presley
Brian Klemm says: It's just a great song, and it's really long.
Female First says: Not the first song you'd think of for a party playlist, but we'd not complaining - Elvis is quite rightly an icon, and this is a brilliant love song.
3. Upside Down (Bouncing Off The Ceiling) - A*Teens
Aaron Bertram says: It's a fantastic catchy dance song.
Female First says: This upbeat party tune was A*Teens' biggest hit in the UK, peaking at Number 10, and pretty much encapsulates pop bands in the early 2000s.
4. Back Here - BBmack
Aaron Bertram says: First boy band to have ska influence.
Female First says: The ska influence isn't immediately prominent, but this is still a nice, tender ballad from a band that deserved more longevity.
5. Riot.Sleep.Repeat. - New Riot
Brad Polidori says: High energy party song.
Female First says: "Much more than just a party track, New Riot created a fantastic gig opener and one of the most upbeat skacore tunes to come out of the UK since [spunge]'s heyday."
6. Wicked Game - Kris Isak
Brad Polidori says: Sexiest song ever.
Female First says: "The opening solo means we really can't disagree - Isak's vocals carry this soaring, often dark, ballad.
7. I Can See Clearly Now - Johnny Nash
Derek Rock says: I was listening to it by chance right now and love the song.
Female First says: This is a great tune that is oozing optimism, backed back a sublime reggae beat.
8. Welcome to the World of the Plastic Beach - Gorillaz ft Snoop Dogg
Derek Rock says: I never get sick of it. Listen to it all the time.
Female First says: The bassline carries this funk-influenced hip-hop track, a darker beat that gives Snoop Dogg's rhymes a different feel.
9. Kokomo - The Beach Boys
Brian Robertson says: It's my favorite childhood song.
Female First says: This saw The Beach Boys embrace a tropical influence, a sound that really works despite being a lot more chilled than their best-known material.
10. Haitian Divorce - Steely Dan
Vincent Walker says: I love this song, always thought it would be cool to cover.
Female First says: We could definitely see Suburban Legends covering this jazz, funk-inspired tune - the cynical, ironic lyrics capture the recent ska trend.
11. In the Dark - Dev
Vincent Walker says: This song makes me feel spinny and I'm not sure if it's in a good or bad way...
Female First says: Definitely a good way - this sax-heavy europop hit is a perfect party track, despite some questionable lyrics.
12. Band Pick Bonus Track: Macarena - Los Del Rio
Suburban Legends says: Soooo good. Classic American tune.
Female First says: After some surprises with their playlist, a song like this absolutely had to feature somewhere - great way to end their party playlist.
That does us for another week - any party tunes you'd like to hear? Let us know and we'll create an extended playlist with all your suggestions.
We'll be back next week celebrating Black Sabbath with our favourite songs from the hard rock icons.
