Well, 2009 has been filled with all kinds of ups and down, but as I struggle to make a ‘Driving CD’ for my little Ron Burgundy - that‘s my purple car if you‘re not down with the kids - I decided it was time to make a list of the albums which I’ve just been listening to over and over this year.
Whilst some of you might agree, some might think I’ve got a rubbish taste in music, and some might think that I’ve left the best band on the planet (who just so happen to be your favourite) out.
Coming up over the next few days are the albums which I’ve added to my iTunes over the past 9 months, and which have had at least one song played every working day since their addition. Now that’s a record.
Steel Panther - Feel The Steel
Just when the recession hit and we all felt like our lives were shrouded in a black cloud forever more and we really couldn’t buy those £65 Topshop heels, BOOM! Steel Panther bounded onto the scene clad in skin tight lycra and with more hairspray than my hair on a Friday night.
Their unique concept of cock rock is just what we need to drag our asses off the sofa and onto the dining room table for a full on party session courtesy of your hairbrush, a bit of backcombing and your old legwarmers that have been gathering dust at the back of your wardrobe for the past year!
These fella’s are completely dedicated to reviving 1980’s rock, and have the ‘rock star attitude’ to go with it; bantering abut sex, drugs and yes, you guess it, rock and roll at every chance they get.
After meeting them at Download festival, I was actually baffled as to whether I’d got any sense out of them during out 20 minute interview (turns out I didn’t) but I knew from then on I loved them.
Trust me, if you like it when Eminem gives someone a slating, you’ll love the likes of Asian Hooker and Fat Girl on Feel The Steel. Granted it might not be something you’d plan with your gran in the car, despite whether or not she’s still got her hearing, but it’s a great way to get the party started on a weekend. Or any other night for that matter.
