We like to pick a song that stands out for us every week, and wherever the FemaleFirst staff have been in the office recently, be it the kitchen, the lingere shop of the ladies loo’s we’ve not been able to stop singing this song!
Proving that Duffy isn’t the only one who can sing ‘like your mum would like,’ Pixie Lott has proven that the fifties can be brought back, without dressing like your gran or warbling so much you sound like you’re sending a coded message - take Duffy’s new song and the line, ‘I want to live, not merely surviiiiiiiiiiiiive’ Gosh, I makes my ears sad.
What’s more, we like Pixie Lott, she seems sweet and looks like she’s not just on the musical gravy train, but actually has a passion for this old career, and isn’t going to be a one trick pony - wow, who opened the box of cheesy clichés?
S, if you’ve got a spare couple of pence on your iTunes card this weekend, go and buy the debut single from miss Lott… it tells the exciting story of a teenager getting up to no good under the cover of night, although asking what her mama would do might not be the best idea when trying to have fun - considering my mother’s childhood sounded pretty boring.
It’s a slice of grown up bubblegum pop… sort of like Amy Winehouse, but without the crack habit, and we all need a bit of that from time to time. Bubblegum that is, not crack.
