Jason Derulo might have pissed off a lot of music fans with his sample of Imogen Heap’s Hide And Seek on this single, but I’ve got to say I love it! (please don’t throw tomatoes at me)
Whilst it’s not the ‘type’ of music I usually listen to, I have to admit that on Wednesday night I had the single on repeat throughout the drive home, and for a half hour drive, that’s quit a big achievement!
Now I appreciate how many Imogen Heap fans out there will be throwing their daisy chains and tie dye t-shirts up in the air at a R&B star sampling her music… but let’s face it she’s got to have sanctioned it or we’d have a lawsuit on our hands and we also know it’s going to storm the charts this Sunday, so protest as you might, it’s not going to do you any favours.
The video is pretty swish too, if he get’s rid of that obscene Craig David style facial hair he’d be quite the looker, and the Usher-meets-Jacko dance moves aren’t too shabby either… you know, I think I might have a bit of a celeb crush….
So, apart from the face fuzz and the rather robotic “Beluga Heights” mention at the end, I think this track is spot on for my ‘Song Of The Week’ and I can assure you that it’s going to get at least three more plays whilst I’m getting ready to head out tonight.
A possible contender for one of my favourite songs of 2009... Kudos to mr Derulo.
