Madina Lake

Madina Lake bassist Matthew Leone is still in hospital following last weeks brutal attack in Chicago, but if Matthew's story has inspired you, there is a way you can help.

In case you haven't herd the news, the Madina Lake bassist was viciously attacked as he walked from his brother and bandmate Nathan's apartment after trying to stop a man from beating his wife.

According to a blog posted by Nathan last week, Matthew managed to "subdue this guy for a second and since his wife was beat up pretty good called the cops" but sadly, as he did so "the guy jumped him from behind and beat him." Before adding, "This guy did things I can’t even type."

Over the weekend Nathan posted a an update on his Tumblr account thanks the public for their outpuring of support before adding that: "Matthew’s making good progress.  His doctors have scheduled the next surgery for July 16th wherein they hope to re-apply the portion of his skull that has been removed to accommodate the swelling in his brain. So for the next 2 weeks he will continue to rest, build up his strength and spirit and hopefully by then he’ll be healthy enough for surgery.  Huge thank you to Dr. Neckrysh and his team of neuro-surgeons and the entire staff at UIC Hospitals, who’ve been amazing and have quite literally saved Matthew’s life."

Unfortunately for the family and friends of Matthew, he didn't have any medical insurance at the time of the attack, so Sweet Relief Musicians Fund is working with Madina Lake's management and Pledge Music to help raise funds for the substantial bills the musician will be forced to pay.

Nathan wrote: "For now, many have so graciously inquired as to where any donations can be made to assist with medical expenses, etc. (unfortunately, Matthew's health insurance expired a few months ago while we were on tour in Europe). Our management has helped organize a few options, should anyone feel they want to donate. We simply can't thank you enough for your generosity, compassion, love and amazing energy that has all been an integral part of Matthew's recovery. More soon, all the love in the world"

Should you wish to donate anything to help this heroic musician, you can just visit sweetrelief.org and pledge anything you can afford.

Our thoughts are with Matthew and his friends and family.
