Robbie Williams

Latest research undertaken by PRS for Music today reveals that, Robbie Williams is the musician we’d most like to see release an unofficial World Cup song,   whilst Three Lions proves to be the UK public’s favourite World Cup song.

Majority shareholder of Port Vale FC and ex member of Take That, Robbie Williams, claimed top spot with over thirty-six percent over the votes with Kasabian and, Gavin and Stacey star, James Corden coming in second and third place respectively. The results come after the Football Association’s announcement that there would not be an official song to celebrate the England’s side this year.

The research, which has been released to launch Sing Up England! a competition to find the best unofficial song for the 2010 World Cup, further shows that over sixty-six percent of the public believe it is either important or very important to have a national song for raising the crowd’s emotions. A further seventy-six percent believe that a rousing song helps to boost player morale.
