Desert Trek

Desert Trek

The team – Ronni Ancona, Craig David, Lorraine Kelly, Scott Mills, Olly Murs, Dermot O’Leary, Nadia Sawalha, and Kara Tointon will brave temperatures of up to 40 degrees as well as a host of deadly snakes and spiders as they cross the Kaisut Desert in Northern Kenya to raise cash.

Dermot O’Leary said: "We're all ready to go now. We've had a practice walk to try and get used to the heat, but it's going to be very tough - we all know that. The snake and spider briefing was interesting to say the least! It's safe to say that we will be watching where we tread..."

The intrepid team are expected to burn up to 8,000 calories a day and will meet people along the way who are losing their sight and need urgent eye care.
The celebrity team’s incredible efforts will raise money to help people living unimaginably tough lives both across Africa and the UK. In particular they will be highlighting the issue of sight. Money they raise will go to Comic Relief projects which include those that help to prevent thousands of people in Africa from going blind or contracting terrible eye conditions like trachoma, something which affects many people living in the region where the trek is taking place.
