There isnât long until the wildcard place is announced for this yearâs Orange Unsigned Act with Sony Ericsson competition. And if youâve got any sense in your musical big toe, you should have picked up the phone and got your voting feet well and truly in the door.
As four acts sail through to the final on January 18, there are five more who are dying for you to dial their number⦠oooh! To give you an idea of whoâs who I have given you a little summary of each act and their number, so you have no excuse to rack up your office phone bill and make one little starlet very happy on Sunday!
Fangs seem to have been stuck in a time warp as they turned up clad in more neon than I did back in the nineties⦠as well as those MASSIVE sunglasses with brightly coloured frames that everyone sporting skinny jeans and backcombed hair seems to be kitted out in at the moment.
Personally, they seemed to be trying to be a little bit too off the wall for me; and if you can remember them from the first week, and think they had more potential than someone decent like Hip Parade then pick up the phone and vote⦠Iâll just assume you need your ears syringing.
Oh, I loved Pyrelli⦠he wasnât my cup of tea with his grandmaster beats, but I really liked the fact that he was doing something different (rapping) than everyone else who made the final cut. He seems like a pretty nice guy too, and he wonât be swanning around with guns and knives if he wins.
I think Pyrelli could be in with a sneaky chance if he getâs all his mates in âthe hoodâ to pick up their phones and cast a vote⦠although the number of gangstaâs watch T4 on a Sunday afternoon is probably pretty slim.
Klaus Says Buy The Record getting voted out was one of the saddest shows of my life! He had performed really well and of course, Lauren Laverne thought he was tres sexy, but unfortunately you canât always sleep yourself to the top.
Personally, I think he was hampered by the fact that he was competing against Tommy Reilly and Toby Sebastian who are two pretty strong singer / songwriters. If he getâs a second chance in the show I really hope he can pull something amazing out of the bag - he has a bit of a struggle if he wants to take on Scotsman Tommy.
SleeperCell are going to be raking in most of the teenage girlsâ vote as their dashing good looks and cheeky attitude makes them ooze sex appeal to 16 year old kids. Although I wouldnât be kicking lead singer Barnaby out of bed in a hurry. (Sorry mum!)
They give unrivalled effort in every gig they play and whether they win or not Iâm sure they will have a long run at some of the UKâs staple gig venue. I think what these guys need to do, it ride the wave of exposure the show has given them, if they use it to their advantage, they really could make something of themselves.
Our final band to be kicked off the show; they lost out to Bo Bruce by the skin of their teeth; much to the distaste of the British public. But after speaking to singer Sam, I have made it my all-time mission to get them back in the show. They are nice guys who have heart, which, in this industry is something that canât be faked.
It would be nice for them to be given a second chance to prove that you donât have to be a conventional, pretty boy band with straightened hair and a lifetime subscription to GQ to make it in the modern industry.
These guys are edgy, honest and not afraid to push the boundariesâ¦.and if you have any respect for modern music, you will get these boys back in.
