Elvis Presley
With so many stars trying to make their mark in the music industry, who will make an impression good enough to join the ranks of legends such as MJ, Elvis and Madonna? We take a look at five of those who we think have the potential.
Britney Spears
She’s certainly got something, as she’s been on the scene since 1992 and shows no signs of going anywhere fast. Not only is she one of the most talked about stars of our generation, but after her very public meltdown just a few years ago, it seems like the blonde bombshell, who currently sit behinds the desk on X Factor USA, is finally back on the right track. We couldn’t be happier, and we hope she keeps pumping out the hits so she can continue to add on to her approximate 100 million record sales so far.
Lady GaGa
What GaGa has brought to the world of music in such a short amount of time is absolutely outstanding. She may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but there’s no denying that her success and unpredictability make her one of the stand-out stars of the past few decades. She’s truly unique and shows some of the greatest ambition to ever come from a star, with artistic vision that would put even some of the professionals to shame. Oh, and she’s the most followed person on Twitter ever, with her current followers standing at just under 32 million.
Eminem
Marshall Mathers, better known as Eminem, or alter ego Slim Shady has proved himself a force to be reckoned with on the rap and hip-hop scene. Sitting as officially the most successful hip-hop artist and rapper of all time, with plans to release his next album in 2013, nobody can argue that he’ll go down in history. Here’s to hoping he claims his seventh consecutive American chart-topping album.
Taylor Swift
The girl who made country cool again will surely be a name on the lips of artists for many years to come, as aged just 22 she’s outsold many of those who have come before her with an approximation of 72 million sales worldwide. If not for her talent, Taylor will forever remain in one of television’s greatest moments when Kanye West interrupted her acceptance speech for best music video of the year to insist that his friend Beyoncé was more deserving. Eek.
Rihanna
She’s had 12 number ones in the United States alone, tying her with current record holder Madonna, so it’s hard to really imagine that Rihanna will just dwindle out and be forgotten. Her controversial tunes usually tend to tie in well with her on-off relationship with Chris Brown that features heavily in the media, but with statistics like the ones she has to her name, she should be remembered for all the right reasons rather than the wrong ones.
