Silver Medal Massacre
The boys are a five peice alternative/hardcore band who throw an eclectic mix of fast punky riffs, big dirty breakdowns and all the energy of the fiery young passionate people who make it up. Confused? Well Silver Medal Massacre have a sound and live show beyond one you have ever experienced (yes really!) and they are more than eager to show it.
As many up and coming bands know all too well, they have found it difficult to get the recognition they so greatly need, but with an electric live show which guarantees to put a smile on any face and begs for shapes to be thrown. The unpredictable frontman mixed with the huge live sound makes SMM a welcomed joy to watch, discovered seeing the faces and receiving comments from anyone who witness's the full glory.
The band fully came together in September of 2007 as the first real musical venture for most of band members. The band chave more names than, well someone with a lot of names, and consists of lunatic vocalist and front man The Barn a.k.a Carl Banks, Niff a.k.a Amir Knifton rocking his Yamaha Oak Custom on drums, Andy Waring slamming crazy riffs on his guitar with desperate attempts to gut Niff, Piff (The Dreded) a.k.a David Page, their very own in house sound engineer, and last but by no means least the bassist, The One And Only Bizzwells Himself (J.Dabbly) a.k.a Jonno Dabbs.
Silver Medal Massacre started when "Dem Boyz," a group of crazy Horwich heads decided to give it their all to follow the dream. In an attempt to create music demonstrating the unique characters and short attention spans of the band. Ultimately aiming to tour the world and enjoy the party that is Silver Medal Massacre with everyone.
SMM are about living free, doing what you want, ignoring the bad stuff and having a good time. The lyrics try to bring to light the problems in the world shunning them and dreaming of harmony (classically).
Another main aim is to have as many people as physically possible to shout "SHEDAWG!" at one time. This is to simplify the growth of our way of life and thinking among our new friends, as everyone at a live show feels like a new friend. The term "SHEDAWG" is a life long friend of all members of SMM and is in dedication to him.
Gigging for Silver Medal commenced one year ago in January of 2008 and has been in constant flow up to present. Before they had played a live note, they were already lined-up for fourteen shows, and since losing their live virginity, they have gone on to play alongside the likes of Open The Skies, Bleed From Within, Hades Chariot and Preston live favourite, Elias Last Day.
So if you want to get your hands on the boys, you need a slice of their debut EP, My Favourite Worst EP, which features hits such as Green Eyes , First of Many , Berlin or Bust and Midnight. If not, you should probably get back to your knitting; because that’s all you’ll be good for.
