It seems that our charts are always full of amazing music, but how many of them are actually original tracks? As Matt Cardle releases a Biffy Clyro track as his X Factor winners single, we take a look at some other covers...
Alicia Keys released the single Rapture, from the Sex and The City Two soundtrack this year, but the original dates all the way back to 1980 when it was released by Blondie.
The Lady GaGa track Bad Romance made a storm in the UK in 2009 and this year it has been covered by American Rock band 30 Seconds to Mars.
Once again Amy Winehouse teamed up with Mark Ronson to release ‘It’s my party’ in November, but it turns out the track was originally released back in 1963 by Lesley Gore. The track is said to be for a Quincy Jones tribute album as this was the first big hit he produced.
Craig David released his fifth studio album, ‘Signed Sealed Delivered’, in March this year which consisted of mostly covers. The R&B star covered artists such as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and Al Green.
The musical legend that is Elton John has been around for decades, Ellie Goulding is a relative newcomer to our charts in comparison, however her version of the Elton classic ‘Your Song’ appears to be doing well in the run up to Christmas
Even X Factor comedy act Jedward took to releasing a cover in 2010, when they covered the Vanilla Ice track, ‘Ice Ice Baby’, originally released in 1990.
To be honest, this list could go on forever. But you get the idea.
