10. Shane Richie- I’m Your Man

In 2003 Shane Richie covered the Wham! classic I’m Your Man in aid of Children in Need and charted at number two. The video showed off Richie’s bubbly personality coupled with light hearted choreography and staging,

9. Westlife- Uptown Girl

Taken from their second studio album Coast to Coast, Uptown Girl was released as the 2001 Comic Relief single. The single reached number one and sold 756, 215 copies in the UK making it the 23rd most popular single of the 2000s.

8. S Club 7- Never Had a Dream Come true

S Club 7 had numerous hits during their time in the spotlight, but this is possibly the most memorable. It became the official Children in Need single in 2000 and flew to number one in the charts. This is the only original version of a track that appears in our chart.

7. X Factor Finalists- Hero

The talent show’s 12 finalists joined forces to cover the Mariah Carey hit, Hero, to raise money for Help the Heroes and The Royal British Legion. The release came after a suggestion from The Sun Newspaper which has continued to support it ever since.

6. Girls Aloud v Sugababes- Walk This Way

Originally released by rock band Aerosmith in 1975 this single became the official Comic Relief track in 2007. This collaboration of Girls Aloud and Sugababes provided us with a battle style anthem with the two sides competing to sing next in the music video.

5. X Factor Finalists- You are not alone

In 2009 the X Factor finalists released this single in order raise money for Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital. The likes of Olly Murs, Stacey Solomon, Joe McElderry and Diana Vickers feature in the video. Even comical twins Jedward were given a few solo lines.

4. Peter Kay- Is This the Way to Amarillo?

This has got to be one of the funniest charity singles of all time. The video see’s comedian Peter Kay marching through various places, collecting famous faces along the way. After appearing in Kay’s comedy series Phoenix Nights the single was released as the 2005 Comic Relief single.

3. X Factor Finalists- Heroes

Last year’s X Factor final 12 carried on the tradition and released another charity single for Help the Heroes. Both the song’s lyrics, and the music video to accompany it, are a fitting tribute to British service men and women. It certainly tugs on your heart strings. The track sold 144, 000 copies in the first week of sales.

2. Various- Everybody Hurts

This single was in aid of the charity Help for Haiti, which was set up after an earthquake devastated the country last year. The track brought together big names in both UK and American music to encourage people to help the victims of the quake. The line-up included Cheryl Cole, Bon Jovi, Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue, Rod Steward, Miley Cyrus, Leona Lewis, Mariah Carey, Alexandra Burke, Take That, JLS, Mika, Michael Buble, James Blunt, Susan Boyle, James Morrison and Westlife. The single sold an astonishing 453, 000 copies in the opening week of sales.

1. Band Aid 20- Do They Know it’s Christmas?

In 1984 British and Irish music superstars joined forced to create a group called Band Aid and released a single in aid of famine relief in Ethiopia. The track has since been covered twice, Band Aid 2 in 1989 and Band Aid 20 in 2004. Band Aid 20 tops our chart due to the added lines courtesy of hip-hop superstar Dizzee Rascal, which, despite being rapped in the middle of this power ballad, somehow fit.
