As 2009 draws to a close and we all wonder how to pronounce 2010 (is it twenty ten, or two thousand and ten?!) we thought it was only right that take a look back at the past 12 months in an organised fashion… and what better way to be organised, than by alphabetising?
K is for Kings Of Leon - Kings Of Leon were a band who passed me by until this year… I just stuck them in the bracket of the Kasabian / Killers genre of poser indie/rock and never really took much notice. Until I was forced to listen to their album over and over in my housemates car as e drove to Cumbria for the day. I’ve got to say, I was pretty impressed, and I actually burned the CD onto my laptop!
L is for Lady Gaga - 2009 was all about Lady Gaga, whether you love her or hate her, admire her fashion sense or are looking for the number of the fashion police, there’s no doubt you don’t have something to say about this Lady… and for FemaleFirst, if has to be ‘Congratulations. You go girl!’
M is for Michael Jackson - June 25 saw the very sad passing of the legendary King Of Pop, Michael Jackson after a cardiac arrest. There is no way to express the sadness felt around the world in just one paragraph, but for the few weeks that followed, the entire world was untied in grief over the loss of such a iconic star.
N is for N Dubz - N Dubz are a band I always wonder whether I should be taking seriously or not… I love their music, it’s catchy and the ‘Na Na Naiiii’ trademark is class! But what’s the deal with Dappy wearing a hat that looks like it’s about to fall off his head? Or Tulisa looking like she’s bought her threads from Barnsley Market? I don’t know, but I know the kiddies love them, so they must be doing something right.
O is for Oasis - Oasis, one of the best British bands of all time decided to split once and for all after feisty brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher had yet ANOTHER bust up earlier this year. Personally I don’t think the band could go on without Liam, but I hope Noel goes onto something solo, as he was a very talented guy.
